BMS 8th graders went to the Buehler Challenger and Science Center in Paramus, NJ to participate in a space shuttle launch simulation. Working in teams, students took turns in various roles in both mission control and on the space shuttle. During the post-mission debrief, students were asked with create protective landing gear for the Mars rover using with limited time and materials. The day culminated in an "egg drop" contest to test the effectiveness of their landing gear.
Corrine Crain's 7th graders created models representing real-life events so that they could study them in a controlled environment.
Three BMS Science & Engineering Teams participated in the Rube Goldberg Contest at the Engineering Expo at White Plains High School on April 15. Two of our three teams placed and the 8thgrade girls placed first!
These three BMS 8th graders survived several rounds of increasingly difficult questions and were three of the18 kids moved on to the state competition which will be held in April
Briarcliff Middle School Mathletes participated in the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), specifically The AMC 8. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers.
