An incident involving a homeless man at a New York City thrift shop inspired Briarcliff High School sophomore Haley Berger to write an essay about the stigma of homeless people and submit it to a local contest. That essay has earned her third place in her category, as well as a cash prize.

The Briarcliff Manor School District’s commitment to fostering civic engagement is apparent throughout the various clubs that focus on promoting the common good through service and civic duty.

One such club, The American Red Cross, supports the Red Cross’s mission to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

From choosing a college, to life before Stonewall, to implicit bias, to how to be a trusted adult…

There was no shortage of informative workshops at the 20^th Annual Prideworks conference, which recently took place at Pace University. The conference, which is geared towards LGBTQ+ Youth and their allies, typically serves students from over 70 middle and high schools, as well as several colleges and universities in the area.

Seven years ago, when Briarcliff High School senior Alex Southern went to summer camp, little did he know that it would change his life.

At camp, Alex took a film class and “caught the bug” for filming, editing and, most importantly, photography.

These days, Alex, who plans to attend Vassar College in the fall, is a Student Teaching Assistant in Jamie Mandel’s College Introduction to Film and Digital Editing class. 

The Bear Bones Theatre Troupe and Introduction to Theater class present Page to Stage, an evening of original staged readings, on Thursday, March 23^rd at 7 pm at Whippoorwill Hall in Armonk. There is a 10-dollar suggested donation at the door. 

It is that time of year where we shine a light on the students who will represent the Class of 2023 as Valedictorian and Salutatorians. We caught up with Tevin Kim, Briarcliff High School’s 2023 Valedictorian, as well as the two Salutatorians – Annabelle Kung and Madeline Rohde – to find out how their year has been, what advice they have for incoming freshmen and what they have learned during their time at Briarcliff High School.
