During the week of February 24, 2020, both the Facilities Planning Committee and the Board of Education will be meeting to discuss key topics related to the District’s vision for the future.
Facilities Planning Committee (FPC) – February 25, 2020
The Facilities Planning Committee will meet on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm in the high school library.
At this important meeting, the District will continue the conversation about the future of our schools and how our facilities and infrastructure could be re-imagined and improved. The work of the committee moving forward will reference the educational vision, as expressed by the superintendent, incorporating healthy, safe and secure learning environments. Kevin Walsh of BBS Architects, Landscape Architects & Engineers, will share insight on educational facility design trends and present some potential applications for the District, based upon observation and input from the superintendent, administration, staff and committee members.
FPC meetings are open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend.
Full details of the FPC, including the Facility Study, a complete calendar of past and upcoming meeting dates, notes from past meetings, and a roster of committee members, can be found on the district website's Facilities Planning Committee page.

Board of Education Meeting on February 27, 2020
The next Board of Education meeting will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 8:00 PM in the Briarcliff Middle School Theater.
The District’s annual budget development process is underway. At this upcoming meeting, the Elementary, Middle and High School principals, along with the Director of Pupil Personnel Services (Special Education), will provide budgetary and staffing recommendations to the Board of Education designed to maintain and improve upon our school programs. The meeting will include presentations on how our schools can best align educational imperatives with budgetary considerations. For example, how District priorities may be affected by declining enrollment, the tax cap and Next Generation Learning Standards moving forward.
At the last BOE meeting, the community had the opportunity to hear from the District’s Directors of Athletics, Technology and Facilities. Among the more important considerations discussed was the importance of keeping students engaged during and after-school hours and the need to address critical safety and security infrastructure.
“From my perspective, our mission is to develop healthy, capable and confident young citizens. These budget sessions offer a unique opportunity for the community to get involved in setting District priorities and planning for the future, and they provide the administration with an opportunity to receive feedback from the public,” said Superintendent Dr. James Kaishian.
Board of Education meetings are open to the public and community members are encouraged to attend. The agenda for the February 27, 2020 meeting can be found here.
