Additional Benefits

All employees, at the time of hire, who work 30 hours or more, can choose to enroll in the group life insurance plan provided by the District through New York Life at no cost to the employee. Refer to your benefit agreement or bargaining unit contract for your life insurance coverage.  

If you incur a work-related injury or illness, you may be eligible for benefits under the Workers' Compensation Act. All work-related accidents or injuries should be reported immediately to the Nurse’s Office or your immediate supervisor using the Employee Incident Report form.  Then follow the following steps: 

1. Complete a C3 Employee Claim form  

2. Seek immediate medical care from a hospital or doctor authorized by the NYS Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) to treat WC injuries. Injured workers can search for WCB authorized doctors at: http://www.wcb.ny.gov/health-careprovider-search/  

3. Provide a detailed history of the accident and injuries to your doctor.  

4. Tell your doctor to file medical reports with the WCB, Briarcliff Manor and the claim administrator:  

• Employer: Briarcliff Manor UFSD (W805444)  

• Insurance Carrier: Briarcliff Manor UFSD (Self-Insured)  

• Claim Administrator: Wright Risk Management, 900 Stewart Avenue, Suite 600, Garden City NY 115305.  

5. DO NOT pay any doctors or hospital for any treatment relating to a WC injury. All bills for treatment relating to the injury should be submitted to Wright Risk Management for processing and payment.  

6. Employees are encouraged to return to work as soon as possible, as compensation is never as high as your wages.  

7. Go to all WCB hearings when notified to appear. 

Aflac provides supplemental insurance to help pay out-of-pocket expenses your health insurance may not cover such as: Short Term Disability, Accident, Hospital, and Cancer coverage.

Long-term disability coverage, managed by New York Life, provides two-thirds salary benefit with a threshold amount of $5,000.  Employees must work a minimum of 30 hours per week to be eligible. Please refer to your individual bargaining unit for coverage details and/or contact the Human Resources Department for more information.
