Dear Todd Elementary School Families,
It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the new Assistant Principal of Todd Elementary School. I am truly honored to accept this new role. I look forward to joining the Todd family and supporting Mrs. O 'Neill-Mangan in continuing to grow this amazing school community. I know I am joining a strong school culture synonymous with excellence, dedication, and collaboration. It is my goal to enhance these characteristics through the collective knowledge and creativity of our students, staff and families.
For the past eleven years I have been a Special Education teacher working across a multitude of grades and in many different facets, including: a special education private school in Manhattan, P.S. 81 in the Bronx where I was a founding member of the inclusion program, and most recently as a teacher leader at Mamaroneck Avenue School. I have studied the intricacies of Administration and developed my leadership skills at Bank Street College as a Wallace Fellow and member of the Principals Institute. My academic background also includes a Master's of Science in Advanced Preparation in Special Education from Hunter College and a Bachelor's of Science in Inclusive Elementary and Special Education from Syracuse University.
My decision to become an administrator came from my desire to make a positive impact on an entire school community. As the Assistant Principal, I will work diligently with Mrs. O'Neill-Mangan, our faculty and staff , and community to carry out the vision and mission of Todd Elementary School. This role will provide me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to our students' growth and learning that takes place in the classroom. Diversity and inclusion are pillars of my personal educational mantra. I am committed to continuous professional growth and ensuring educational equity and access for all of our students.
The partnership between home and school should inspire confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community and world. During the course of the year, it is my hope that we will work together to provide our students the best opportunities. As Assistant Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your conversation and collaboration throughout this year. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2019-2020 school year.
Warm Regards, Anne Marie Foley afoley@briarcliffschools.org (914) 941-8300 ext. 1102
