Dear families,
We are all making our final plans for our field trip to Wicked this Wednesday, March 22nd. The teachers are as excited as the students! Below are a few helpful tips to help plan with your child/ren.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING?
Lunch and the ticket are provided, but it is a long day. A small bottle of water and a non-peanut snack for the trip home is a good idea. Pocket money is not needed, but you may certainly send your child with something for a souvenir. A charged cellphone (students will be permitted to use their cellphone to contact families on our commute home from the city. Students will not be permitted to use their cellphone throughout the trip.)
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE?
Students will leave BMS at 10:00, have lunch at Ellen's Stardust Diner at 11:30, see the show at 2:00 at the Gershwin Theater, and will return to BMS around 6:15.
ARE FACE MASKS REQUIRED AT THE SHOW?
They are optional. We will have a box of masks with us should your child not have one but decide he or she wants one upon arrival.
WILL THERE BE A NURSE ON THE TRIP?
Yes! We have an experienced field trip nurse coming from BOCES.
HOW WILL MY CHILD GET HOME FROM THE SCHOOL AFTER THE SHOW?
You need to provide a ride home from BMS. If they are going to be later or earlier than 6:15 they will call you. When you pick them up at the school, please do NOT park on top so that the children can exit the buses safely.
WILL YOU BE SPEAKING WITH THE STUDENTS PRIOR TO THE SHOW?
Yes! Mrs. Piersons will be speaking with the ELA classes on Tuesday so that the students can have all their questions answered. Here are the talking points:
- You may bring a bag, but if you bring a bag, be prepared for a search at the theater.
- This is not a school-only show. The theater acoustics magnify every sound. We all need to be respectful of the actors on stage and the other ticket holders.
- That means: no unwrapping of candy, phones OFF, not on vibrate, no whispering to friends, using the bathroom prior to the show and intermission.
- If everyone in your group doesn't want to do something, BE KIND, BE INCLUSIVE!!
- Your priority is to be on time to the theater - if you stop somewhere, be aware that you need to be at the Gershwin by 1:30!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Piersons at 914.488.8224 or SPiersons@BriarcliffSchools.org.
Best,
Mrs. Mary Beth Craven
