Dear families,
Student Council is reviving an old tradition in the Middle School: Halfway Day. Students will pause to celebrate reaching the halfway mark of the 6th grade, their overall MS experience, and journey to the high school. We will have a celebration on Friday, January 27th during students' Enrichment/Strategies classes which will include the beginning of a school-wide mural.
Shout Out:
- We enjoyed listening to the beautiful musicianship of our 6th grade Performing Arts students with family and friends this past week. Thank you to those who were able to join the performance!
Smart Watch and Cellphone
Since the holiday break there has been an increase in the number of students that are wearing smart watches to school. These watches can be very distracting to students and interrupt instruction. We are requesting all watches (and cellphones) be turned off and kept in the student's locker during the school day. If you need to get in touch with your child during the school day, please contact our main office at 914.769.6299. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Tech-Free Days
We've identified a variety of Thursdays to power-off from technology! On selected Thursdays, teachers will be planning their lessons with the intent for students not to use technology. Our hope is to reinforce the importance of balancing screen time access while promoting face-to-face collaboration and making connections with peers. Tech-Free Dates: February 2nd, March 2nd, April 13th, April 19th (ELA State Assessment), April 20th (ELA State Assessment), May 4th (Math State Assessment), May 5th (Math State Assessment), June 1st
22-23 Yearbooks:
Yearbooks are still available! Want to place an ad for your child? Still haven't bought a yearbook? The school order number is 4196. Please click HERE to start your order. The deadline to purchase an ad is March 1st!
Computer Based Test Simulation
On January 24th, we will have students complete a short "sampler" of questions in preparation for the NYS Assessments. This simulation is very brief. It will allow us to ensure that students can access the testing portal and permit students to see the tools they can use on the state assessments. Please be sure your child shuts down and fully charge their laptop every evening, so we have ample power for this simulation.
NYS State testing dates are projected for:
- ELA: The week of April 17th
- Math: The week of May 1st
Dates to Remember:
Tuesday, January 24th – CBT Simulation
