Dear Families,
We hope this letter finds you resting, relaxing, and enjoying plenty of special family time. It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2021-22 school year. This is the first in a series of correspondences you will be receiving from us throughout August. Look for information regarding health and safety measures, arrival and dismissal procedures, technology distribution and schedules relevant to Todd in upcoming letters. We are confident that through collaborative effort we will make this a safe, exciting, and productive year for your children. We look forward to working with all of you to provide the best education possible for our students.
Todd is proud of its dedicated, hardworking staff. Our teachers pride themselves in maintaining an excellent rapport and building strong relationships with the children and parents in their class. They take great pleasure in helping children find joy in their accomplishments and in practicing resilience, persistence and problem solving when they struggle. They know and value their students as individuals. We will do all we can to provide a challenging, motivating and quality program for each Todd student.
We spend considerable time meeting with parents, teachers, and students. This open dialogue is imperative as we implement and grow our vision of education at Todd School. We hope you find us accessible and responsive to your concerns and ideas. Even with the continuation of New York State health and safety guidelines, our goal remains the same, to make this the most positive and productive year imaginable for each student. Todd is a wonderful place to grow and learn.
New Staffing for 2021-22 This year it is a privilege to welcome the following faculty member to Todd. Please extend a warm welcome to Mrs. Nicole Hesari, who will join the third grade team as a classroom teacher.
Student Placement Information Student placement information will be available after 3:00 P.M. on the Parent Portal, August 20, 2021. The placement process is a very complex and lengthy one that spans from March through June and then continues throughout the summer with the placement of our new students. Your child's classroom teacher, counselors, and administrators work collaboratively to ensure the best placement for all children. We would appreciate your respecting the arduous work involved in this process by not requesting changes.
Student Orientation and Supply Drop-Off Student orientation and supply drop-off will occur on Thursday, September 9th. Our first full day of learning and transportation for all children will be Friday, September 10, 2021. The student orientation/supply drop off is an opportunity for your child to meet this year's teacher and to help students become familiar with our safety procedures and their classroom. In addition, students will be able to unpack their supplies and set up their working space. Please be sure that your child's supplies are clearly labeled with their name and unpacked in advance of the orientation. Due to parking constraints, please honor the grade level schedule below. All students must wear a mask while inside the building. Desks and surfaces in the classroom will be cleaned after visits. We ask that parents and caregivers bring their child to Todd at the assigned time on Thursday, September 9th. District transportation will not be available until Friday, September 10th. Our Security Guards will be on duty, directing traffic for drop off. Unfortunately, to maintain social distancing and eliminate the possibility of congestion in the hallways, parents will not be allowed to enter the building. Staff members will meet and escort the children to their classroom. At the end of the session, staff members will escort the children outside for pick up in the front of the building at the K-2 entrance. Parents and caregivers should park their car and wait for their children on the sidewalk outside the K-2 entrance.

As previously mentioned, this is the first in a series of August letters. We wanted to get the orientation/supply drop off dates and times to you ASAP so that you can plan accordingly. As soon as we receive safety guidance and recommendations from NY State and the Westchester Dept. of Health, we will be able to confirm our district safety protocols, arrival and dismissal procedures and our Back-to-School Night presentation times and format. It is our hope that New York State guidelines and infection rates will allow us to safely welcome you into the building for Back-to-School Night.
We look forward to welcoming your children back to Todd in September. We've missed the children and look forward to focusing on the joy they bring to our lives and school community. In the meantime, enjoy these wonderful lazy days of summer.
Most sincerely, Colleen O'Neill-Mangan, Principal Anne Marie Foley, Assistant Principal
