Dear Parents,
We're emailing you now to let you know about an optional activity for next school year for your child. We're emailing now because the club involves your child reading and enjoying a book this summer from our summer reading list.
The Video Book Talk Club is a collaborative club for 4th and 5th graders led by the Briarcliff Manor Public Library and Todd Library librarians. Students write, edit, and record a "mini-commercial" about a book they read over the summer that they'd like other students to know about.
Please note that registration will not begin until September. In September, we'll email you about sign ups. We will not know until the fall if we will do the club virtually, as we did this school year, or if we can do it after school in person. We shall see. Know that we are determined to have the club for all interested 5th graders and hope to also include all interested 4th graders!
We've attached the students' summer reading lists (which we emailed you about earlier) for your reference. All of this year's booktalks can be viewed at www.briarcliffmanorlibrary.org/booktalks if you want to get an idea of what the students in the club create. Amy Kaplan can be reached at abgkaplan@wlsmail.org throughout the summer with any questions you may have.
Thanks, Tara Phethean and Amy Kaplan
