Dear BHS Students and Families:
As the end of the 2021 school year approaches, we would like to provide reminder information regarding the BHS examination period.
New York State Regents Exams This June, we will be administering the four federally mandated Regents exams as follows:
Some important highlights from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) regarding the Regents administration:
Please find the following links to the Regents Exam Schedule, the NYS update on June and August Regents Exams, and the Regents FAQ page.
Local Final Exams While some classes will culminate in an in-person final assessment during Regents/Finals week, others will include an in-class formative assessment (final, project, paper, presentation or alternative formative assessment) prior to the exam period. The local final assessments are designed by the classroom teacher to assess student learning and provide essential instructional feedback for next year. Unlike the NYS Regents exams, local final assessments are MANDATORY and will be weighted 20% of the student's final course average.
Please note that although we cannot legally require fully remote students to take the Regents or Local Final exams, our expectation is that all students enrolled in courses ending with a teacher prepared local final exam or one of the four Regents Exams planned for June will sit for these exams in person.
Any fully remote student who is unable to report to school for a Local Final Exam or Regents must make arrangements with his/her teacher in advance of the testing day. We cannot accommodate last minute requests for alternate arrangements.
We hope this information is helpful in understanding the exam issues. Please speak to us if we can assist in answering specific questions.
Sincerely, Debora French, Principal
