Dear Parents,
We're in the home stretch and we can hardly wait to get started! Teachers will be back in the school building starting Wednesday, 9/2 and children start arriving in small numbers for orientation on Tuesday, 9/8, Wednesday, 9/9 and Thursday, 9/10. The first full day of school for all students is Friday, 9/11. All the hard work and effort that goes into preparing, cleaning, and opening a building never feels quite complete until the staff and children arrive.
The next few weeks will be full of "firsts". It's the first time your children will ever wear a mask to school, it's the first time teachers will teach simultaneously to children in school and at home, it's the first time we will need to manage a car line of 150 cars, all while prioritizing social distancing and staying safe. There is no perfect educational scenario during a pandemic. None of us have all the answers but together, as a school community we can collectively commit to being patient and flexible with one another as we solve problems and find solutions.
We have put together a document of Frequently Asked Questions (attached). We hope that this document together with the social emotional resources and information that Dr. Rubin and Mrs. O'Connell sent earlier in the week will cover most of the questions you've reached out to ask.
As always, we want to assure you that the entire faculty is set to engage your child in school or at home in meaningful and interesting learning while at the same time supporting their social emotional needs. Please know that we highly value the home/school connection and communication. We encourage you to contact us if the need arises. Be well and stay safe.
Best regards,
Colleen O'Neill-Mangan
