August, 2020
Dear Parents,
We hope this letter finds you resting, relaxing and enjoying plenty of special family time. It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year. This is the first in a series of correspondences you will be receiving from us over the next three weeks. Look for information regarding technology pick up, health and safety measures, arrival and dismissal procedures and schedules relevant to Todd in upcoming letters. We are confident that through collaborative effort we will make this a safe, exciting and productive year for your children. We look forward to working with all of you to provide the best education possible for our students.
Todd is proud of its dedicated, hardworking staff. Our teachers pride themselves in maintaining an excellent rapport and building strong relationships with the children and parents in their class. They take great pleasure in helping children find joy in their accomplishments and in practicing resilience, persistence and problem solving when they struggle. They know and value their students as individuals. Whether we are teaching and learning in person or virtually, our goals for your child's education remain the same. We will do all we can to provide a challenging, motivating and quality program for each Todd student.
We spend considerable time meeting with parents, teachers and students. This open dialogue is imperative as we implement and grow our vision of education at Todd School. We hope you find us accessible and responsive to your concerns and ideas. Todd is a wonderful place to grow and learn. Even with all the changes that we will implement this year for health and safety reasons, our goal is to make this the most productive year imaginable for each student.
Most sincerely,
Colleen O'Neill-Mangan

New Staffing for 2020-21
This year it is a privilege to welcome the following faculty members to Todd. Please extend a warm welcome to our colleagues from the Middle School, Sue Mauriello and Amanda Schwartz. Mrs. Mauriello and Mrs. Schwartz will be joining our fifth-grade team.
Please extend a warm welcome back to Rebecca Rampolla who is returning after a yearlong leave of absence. She is very excited about rejoining our first grade ICT team this year.
Student Placement Information
Student placement information will be available after 3:00 P.M. on the Parent Portal, August 14, 2020. The placement process is a very complex and lengthy one that spans from March through June and then continues throughout the summer with the placement of our new students. Teachers, counselors and administrators work collaboratively to ensure the best placement for all children. We would appreciate your respecting the arduous work involved in this process by not requesting changes.
Student Orientation and Supply Drop-Off
Student orientation and supply drop-off will occur over a three-day period of September 8th, 9th and 10th. This phased reopening will give us an opportunity to practice our new safety protocols with small cohorts of children and readjust if necessary before our full opening on Friday, September 11, 2020.
As in the past, parents and caregivers will drive their child and their school supplies to Todd at the assigned time. To maintain social distancing, and congestion in the hallways, classroom teachers will assign your child to Cohort A or B. Children should be dropped off at the K-2 entrance. Unfortunately, for safety reasons parents and caregivers will not be allowed to enter the building, staff members will meet and escort the children to their classroom. At the end of the session, staff members will escort the children outside for pick up. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to wait in the parking lot.
The student orientation is an opportunity for your child to meet this year's teacher and also to help them become familiar with our new safety procedures and their classroom. In addition, students will be able to unpack their supplies and set up their working space. Please be sure that all of your child's supplies are clearly labeled with their name and unpacked in advance of the orientation. Due to parking constraints and to provide social distancing in the hallways, please honor the grade level schedule below. Students must be wearing a mask. Desks and surfaces in the classroom will be cleaned between visits.
