Dear Parents,
We hope you and your families are well. We all know the last two weeks have brought some unexpected changes to our lives, but we are impressed with how well students and teachers alike to have adapted and adjusted to distance learning. As we enter our third week, we are learning through your feedback and the responses from students to figure out what works best for our children. We are learning and growing together, and we appreciate parents patience and support, as always!
Working from home is a challenge for all of us. Depending upon your child's age and maturity level, some students May need more adult oversight than others. As we go forward, we want to remind you of a few tips that can be helpful:
In the 8th grade, teachers noted that some assignments submitted were exactly identical last week. It is important that students remember the expectation of academic honesty. We expect that the work your child submits reflects his/her own ideas, thoughts and words. It's fine to work with friends in a virtual setting, to explore content and discuss material. But each is responsible for his/hr own work. Learning is our focus, and simply copying answers (either from a classmate or other source) short changes your child in the process. Teachers may not give credit to copied work.
We miss seeing our students and we hope to be back at school together before too long. We have a busy week ahead, but we will stop for spring break from April 6 – 13. You are welcome to email us, our counselors or teachers with questions. We are always here to help. Stay well!
Regards, Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Gladstone
