Dear Parents,
I hope all is well within your families, and I hope our first day of distance learning got off the ground without too many complications. I know students got a lot of email today! If your child was overwhelmed by this, you can assist him/her by starting with one subject at a time.
I heard some lovely bits from our faculty about students who were checking in with their teachers, either via email or video chat on Teams. Please know that we are not anticipating that teachers will run a "live" feed during their scheduled class periods. Rather, we asked teachers to start with the platforms they feel most confident with as we get things running. In many cases, this will be One Note; some will use collaborative tools on Teams; others will refer students to digital programs for content; in some cases, it will be a paper and pencil assignment that can be scanned or photographed for credit.
We are asking students to work on assignments and submit work daily. If a teacher does not have any correspondence from your child over two to three days, the teacher will reach out to you.
It is important that we help students understand that this unusual departure from school is not an extended vacation. Students should anticipate spending about 30 per day on each subject, including related arts, music and PE. And, in the interest of public health and safety, students should honor guidelines for social distancing. Please use the link below to read more about the importance of social distancing.
