Dear BHS Parents and Students,
For all of us, March 2020 will be a significant memory – one in which our daily lives became altered in unimaginable ways. The worry and concern about the health and safety of our loved ones is paramount as the unknown consequences of COVID-19 becomes apparent. It is our hope that providing as much structure, reassurance, and responsive communication as possible will provide a sense of balance and calm for our students, families and staff.
As a District, we are fortunate to have one-to-one devices, connectivity, and educational software which will enable our students to continue with instruction until we are able to resume regular classes. Our district's technology department has provided our faculty with professional development and support necessary for remote learning in anticipation of this unprecedented situation. Teachers have the ability to virtually connect with their classes through TEAMS, posting lessons, resources, and assignments via BLACKBOARD or ONE NOTE. Our H.S. students are very familiar and comfortable with these educational platforms as teachers have incorporated them into their lesson designs for many years. Teachers will be utilizing a variety of programs to ensure a continuum of instruction and accessibility for all students. With this, Monday, March 16th will be a "planning and launch day" for teachers to prepare students for remote instruction as of Tuesday, March 17th. Kindly ensure that your child(ren) is able to access all class resources on his/her device(s) beginning tomorrow, March 16. If there are any issues accessing any educational programs or materials, please have your child email his/her content teacher directly for assistance.
Additionally, we ask parents and students to take the importance of social distancing seriously. The CDC defines social distancing as "remaining out of places where people meet or gather and maintain a distance of six feet from others". If we are to resume life prior to COVID-19, it is imperative that parents and students recognize that the spread of COVID-19 will be deterred with community cooperation.
Most importantly, we will continue to be available via email and regular communiques to help with updates, questions and concerns. Together, we will reassure each other with a sense of unity and optimism until we warmly welcome our students and faculty back to Briarcliff HS.
Sincerely, Debora French, Principal Diana Blank, Assistant Principal Daniel Goldberg, Assistant Principal
