Our theme for March is Resilience "Persistence and resilience only come from having been given the chance to work through difficult problems." – Gever Tully
Grade 8: Conversations with Counselors Parents of rising freshmen are welcome to join the HS guidance team for Conversations with Counselors on March 4 at 8:30 a.m. in the College Conference Room at the high school. There will be an informal presentation about the course selection process, as well as, a chance to ask questions about your child's transition to the high school.
Grade 7: Kindness Project Continuing our theme of kindness and building on our SEL work this year, Team 7 is encouraging students to perform Random Acts of Kindness. To get things going, students have been encouraged to go to the Random Acts of Kindness board, take any card, and then perform that random act of kindness. If they want, they may also talk to their homeroom teacher or Mrs. Kress about what they did for a small reward. Parents can help support this initiative by talking to their 7th grade student about acts of kindness and encouraging them to participate.
Parent-Child Book Club Join us for Pizza and a great discussion! The Parent-Child Book Club will be on Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 in the Middle School Library. We will be discussing Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine. Please RSVP by March 18 so we can be sure to have enough pizza and snacks: kmccabe@briarcliffschools.org
Half Conference Days Parents are always encouraged to contact individual teachers if there are questions around a student's progress in a particular area. Email is a quick and easy way to reach out to your child's teachers at any time of the year. The afternoons of March 6 and March 20 are designated time for Parent-Teacher Team Conferences. As there is limited availability for spring team conferences, and these are generally reserved to support students with areas of need. As is our protocol, grade level team leaders first reach out to families to set a team conference time as needed. Beyond that, parents may request a meeting if they feel a team conference is warranted to review their student's overall progress.
If a teacher has not reached out to you and you'd like to request a meeting, please contact your child's team leader next week: · Grade 6 – jgallagher@briarcliffschools.org · Grade 7 – nkress@briarcliffschools.org · Grade 8 – aperry@briarcliffschools.org
