Nominating Petitions
Prospective Board of Education Candidate Packets are available at the at the District Clerk’s office at 45 Ingham Road, in Briarcliff Manor, NY. The office is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The deadline to submit the nominating petition is Monday, April 22, at 5:00 p.m.

Absentee Ballot Information
Anyone that is registered to vote and will not be in Westchester County on the date of the annual school district election may be eligible to apply for an absentee ballot. To receive an absentee ballot, an application must first be completed. An application can be requested from the District Clerk or downloaded by clicking here.
By Mail: The District Clerk must receive this application at least seven (7) days before the election (May 14) if the ballot is to be mailed to you.
In Person: If someone will be personally picking up the ballot at the District Office, then the application may be submitted up to the day before the election (May 20).
The actual ballots will not be able to be distributed until after the Board of Education adopts the budget and board petitions are submitted on April 22nd.
Información de la boleta de votación en ausencia
Cualquier persona que esté registrada para votar y no estará en el Condado de Westchester en la fecha de la elección anual del distrito escolar puede ser elegible para solicitar una boleta de votación en ausencia. - A registered voter of the District and/or a registered voter of Westchester County whose name appears on the list supplied by the Westchester County Board of Elections as having voted in a national, state or county election during the past four years.

School Voting Registration Information
Absentee Ballots
Absentee ballot applications are available at the District Clerk's Office at the District Office during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) or by downloading the application by clicking here.
The absentee ballot application should be submitted in original form, with the original signature on it. It must be submitted at least seven days before the vote/election if the ballot will be mailed to the voter and by the day before the vote/election if the ballot will be personally picked up by the voter. The absentee ballot must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote/election in order to be counted.
Qualifications of Voters:
A person shall be entitled to vote at any school meeting for the election of school district officers and upon all other matters, which may be brought before such meeting, who is:
- A citizen of the United States.
- Eighteen years of age.
- A resident within the District for a period of 30 days next preceding the meeting at which he offers to vote.
- A registered voter of the District and/or a registered voter of Westchester County whose name appears on the list supplied by the Westchester County Board of Elections as having voted in a national, state, or county election during the past four years.

LEGAL NOTICE
NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING, BUDGET VOTE AND SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION, BRIARCLIFF MANOR SCHOOL DISTRICT, OF THE TOWNS OF MOUNT PLEASANT AND TOWN OF OSSINING, WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT a Budget Hearing of Briarcliff Manor School District, of the Towns of Mount Pleasant and Town of Ossining, State of New York, will be held remotely on June 1, 2020, 8:00 pm.
The purpose of said hearing will be:
To receive from the Board of Education of the District a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, specifying the several purposes and the amount of each as provided by Section 1716 of the Education Law;
NOTICE IS FURTHER given that the Budget Vote and School Board Election will be held on June 9, 2020 exclusively by absentee ballot voting for the purpose of voting upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures for the 2020 - 2021 school year for school purposes and for the election of two members of the Board of Education for terms expiring June 30, 2023. There are TWO (2) vacancies on the Board of Education. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to a full three (3) year term from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2023. The candidate receiving the second highest number of votes will be elected to fill the balance of an unexpired term from June 9, 2020 through June 30, 2021.
Candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education may be nominated or self-nominated by petition directed to the District Clerk stating the name and residence address of the candidate and that he or she is qualified to be a member of the Board of Education. No signatures are required on the nominating petition. Petitions shall be filed with the District Clerk by email at jbrockett@briarcliffschools.org by not later than Monday, May 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. A form of petition can be found on the District website.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting closure of school buildings, and in an effort to maintain health and safety, the District Clerk will not be registering voters of the District. If a voter has previously registered with the District and has voted at an annual or special district meeting within the last four (4) calendar years, he/she is eligible to vote at this election; if a voter is registered with the Board of Elections of Westchester County he/she is eligible to vote at this election. Any resident of the school district who is not already a registered voter and wishes to be a registered voter for this election may register with the board of elections by mail or by submitting an on-line application for voter registration with the Department of Motor Vehicles at: https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the District Clerk will mail an absentee ballot to all identified qualified registered voters for the Annual Election. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on June 9, 2020.
Military Voters may register and/or request a military ballot from the District Clerk at jbrockett@briarcliffschools.org by no later than 5:00 P.M. on May 14, 2020. The Military Voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application by mail, by facsimile or email. Military ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 P.M. on election day and showing a cancellation mark of the U.S postal service or a foreign country’s postal service, or showing a dated endorsement of receipt by another agency of the U.S. government or signed and dated by the military voter and one witness thereof, with a date which is ascertained to be not later than the day before the election.
A copy of the detailed statement in writing of the amount of the money which will be required for the school year 2020 - 2021 for school purposes, specifying the several purposes and the amount of each, as provided by Section 1716 of the Education Law, may be viewed by any resident during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the annual budget vote and school election on the District’s website.
A Real Property Tax Exemption Report prepared in accordance with Section 495 of the Real Property Tax Law will be annexed to any tentative/preliminary budget as well as the final adopted budget of which it will form a part; and shall be posted on the District’s website. Voting Information For All Residents
2020 Budget Vote & Board Member Election
Pursuant to Executive Order 202.26, Governor Cuomo has established June 9, 2020 as the revised date for the 2020 annual budget vote and board member election. Voting will be exclusively by absentee ballot. There will be no in-person voting.
Absentee Ballots
Applications for absentee ballots have been waived. The governor’s executive order states that an absentee ballot will be mailed to all registered voters. An absentee ballot application does not need to be submitted. If you are a registered voter, an absentee ballot will be sent automatically.
Qualified Voter
A qualified voter must be 18 years old by June 9, 2020, a citizen of the United States and a resident within the Briarcliff Manor School District for 30 days immediately preceding the vote, and not otherwise prohibited from voting.
Registering to Vote
During the current mandated school district closure and need for social isolation, personal voter registration may not take place in school districts. Qualified Voters may register to vote with the local County Board of Elections by completing an online application with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Nominating Petitions
Pursuant to Executive Order 202.26, nominating petitions must be filed with the office of the District Clerk by 5:00PM on Monday, May 11, 2020. NO signatures are required, petition may be mailed or emailed to the District Clerk, Juanita Brockett, jbrockett@briarcliffschools.org. There will be no drawing of lots for candidate positioning on ballots. The names of all candidates will appear on the ballot in alphabetical order, by the candidate’s surname.
