Local Composer Carmino Ravosa to be Honored at Todd Concert
During Todd Elementary School’s annual fifth-grade concert the district will recognize the accomplishments and contributions of local legendary composer Carmino Ravosa, one of the most popular songwriters for schools in America. The concert will be held this evening, June 6 beginning at 7p.m. in the Todd School gymnasium.
Well known for his songs published in two textbook series by– the World of Music and The Music Connection, Mr. Ravosa’s work might best be recognized from the classic CBS children’s show Captain Kangaroo and the PBS program Shining Time Station, as he served as songwriter for these two popular television series. He also wrote music for the PBS publication Sesame Street Magazine and has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the White House, Ellis Island and the Smithsonian.
Thousands of schools in the United States use Mr. Ravosa’s music curriculum, including the Briarcliff Manor School District. For the past 15 years, he has volunteered his time, energy and passion for teaching history through music, song, dance and drama to the elementary students at Todd School.
Please join us in honoring Mr. Ravosa. All residents are welcome to attend this evening’s concert.
